Who we are

We are a not-for-profit, parent-run organization that has served Waterbury and the surrounding area for well over 20 years, providing children from central Vermont a low-cost opportunity to swim competitively. Most of our swimmers are from the Waterbury area, but our team members also live in Duxbury, the Mad River Valley, Moretown, Barre, Montpelier, Stowe, and beyond. There is no "residency requirement" -- everyone is welcome. All swimmers, whether Waterbury residents or not, must have a Waterbury pool pass.

Our emphasis is on fun and improvement. Kids not only get to race, but in the process they become stronger swimmers and safer in the water.

The Rapids compete in the Green Mountain (Central Vermont) Swim League. We swim at the Town of Waterbury Pool. The team will again be coached by Elena Bilodeau, an outstanding former summer swimmer who participated in our program for many years.

Our season begins Monday, June 20, and culminates for all swimmers in our District meet on Saturday, July 30, and the Vermont State Championships meet (August 6-7, 2011) for any swimmers achieving the qualifying time standards.
